Interested in being a Persistent Stitcher?

Updated: 6/2018.

Persistent Stitches is an all-volunteer project to raise funds for progressive, social justice organizations through crafting. Persistent Stitches crafters create works, choose an organization to raise money for, and put the items up for “sale.” Donors give directly to the specified organization, at or above the minimum dollar amount,  and then email proof of donation to the project coordinator in order to claim the item.

Q: What will this cost me?

Persistent Stitchers donate their supplies, time, and postage to this effort. I encourage all participants to work within your budget and to set the minimum donation at the level that feels appropriate to your effort and expense.

Q: How do I get started?

Crafters may participate in Persistent Stitches at any level, whether by creating occasional works or committing to an ongoing series. In order to have your item(s) listed on the Persistent Stitches page, email me at persistentstitches@gmail.com with the following:

  • The name (of the maker) you want me to use in association with your item. Can be your first name, full name, or screen name. Whatever you are comfortable with.
  • Your Twitter handle if you want me to tag you when I promote your items.
  • A photograph of the item.
  • A name or brief description of the item (see the P.S. page for examples).
  • The minimum dollar amount that must be donated to claim the item.
  • The social justice organization the donor should give to.
  • If you would like to be listed as a Persistent Stitcher, include a short biographical note and a photo/avatar if desired.

New items will be posted shortly after this information is received and the listing pushed out on social media. If you send more than one item, I may spread out the postings so that people have reason to return to the page.

Q: What happens when someone claims an item I made?

Once someone has donated at or above the specified amount and provided proof of donation and their mailing address to me, I will forward this information to you for your records. It is up to you to then send the claimed item to the recipient. Please try to get items in the mail within a week of receiving donation confirmation.
